Public Policy Institute Presents 2007 Fall Seminar:
Taking Care of Our Own: Planning for Future Human Services Needs in Marion County
September 26, 2007 – OCALA - FLORIDA
To provide leadership in identifying recommendations for an improved community, the Public Policy Institute (PPI) of Marion County will host a fall seminar entitled, Taking Care of Our Own: Planning for Future Human Services Needs in Marion County on Tuesday, October 16th, 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the Klein Conference Center at College of Central Florida. The event is free and open to the public.
Keynote speaker Jack Levine, founder of the 4Generations Institute, will highlight trends in regard to human services needs in Florida and Marion County. Levine, a communications and public policy consultant, previously served as the President of Voices for Florida’s Children for over 25 years and is a founding member of the Florida Commission on Responsible Fatherhood. Levine currently serves as Partnership Director for GRAND Magazine and advises The Family Institute of the College of Human Sciences, Florida State University, and the University of Florida College of Law.

The WellFlorida Council, Inc. - one of 11 local health councils in the state, WellFlorida, Inc. is a private, non-profit 501(c)-3 organization committed to preserving and improving community health and well-being. The council serves 16 counties, 11,000 square miles and 1.4 million residents. WellFlorida, Inc. recently completed a health needs assessment for Marion County and will outline the results of that assessment.
The Marion County Children’s Alliance - a non-profit agency that works to ensure all children have a safe, healthy and nurturing environment in which to grow.
Marion County Senior Services - a non-profit charitable social agency providing supportive care services to elderly disabled and disadvantaged citizens of Marion County.
The Juvenile Welfare Board Children’s Services Council of Pinellas County - the nation’s first county-wide agency to utilize dedicated property tax revenue to better the lives of children and families. The council funds non-profit, government, and grassroots community groups to provide health and human services to children and families. Additionally, the organization has implemented a web-based data collection technology and agency certification program to determine program success. The program is currently used by other Florida Children’s Services Councils to enhance community quality of life.
