Public Policy Institute of Marion County Announces 2005 Traffic/Transportation Study Committee Meeting
June 13, 2005– OCALA - FLORIDA - To provide leadership in identifying recommendations for an improved community, the Public Policy Institute (PPI) of Marion County will host local and state Legislators on Wednesday, June 15, 2005. As part of the weekly speaker series coordinated by the PPI for the ongoing 2005 Study: Traffic/Transportation, area elected officials have been invited to participate in a discussion forum where Study Committee Members will present a Study Matrix tentative recommendations based on information gathered during the course of the Study. This meeting will be held from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the Klein Conference Center, at Central Florida Community College and is open to the public.
The purpose of this PPI study is to review current transportation plans for existing traffic and transportation, study and identify transportation management models that can improve the safety and security of the transportation system within our community, and to develop recommendations for transportation planning that ensures the mobility of people and goods, enhances economic growth, protects the environment, and improves the quality of life.
The PPI Study Committee meets on Wednesday mornings from 8:15 – 9:45 a.m. at College of Central Florida. Participation is open to the public. Please contact Crystal Flynn, Director for additional information. Since January, the committee has met with a distinguished list of over 20 speakers. The last of these weekly meetings featuring guest speakers, followed by a discussion of related literature will take place on June 29, 2005. Upon completion of the study in July, a final report will be published in the fall.
